ALERT: Amazon Throttle
|
Read: 3382 Replies: 0

Amazon has re-instituted an account throttle for the CompetitorEye ID: 4530-3380-0649 which is a single shared ID, used by the CompetitorEye engines.
CompetitorEye receives account throttle exclusions, however these exclusions have been unintentionally removed from time to time as Amazon makes changes to their system software and or database.
Although this will not affect our repricing or ASIN monitoring, when Amazon’s throttling occurs, CompetitorEye can be severely limited when it comes to inventory file synchronization, on-demand competitor inventory reports, ASIN, UPC, Distributor and or Product lookup accounts, etc.
Why does Amazon throttle? Some systems bombard Amazon with repetitive data requests. For this reason, throttling was instituted several years ago for all accounts, CompetitorEye has been granted throttle exclusion due to it being a consolidated key system amongst the Amazon sellers using the system.
For example, let’s say Amazon allows 2,000 requests per day per Amazon seller before a throttle occurs, with 1,000 sellers using the CompetitorEye key, 200,000 requests can be made before any throttle occurs, unfortunately the “single account” of 2,000 requests for *ALL* 1,000 accounts is in place when the throttle is in effect for the CometitorEye account. – SO all sellers are being forced under the umbrella of a single account throttle.
We have opened a support ticket with Amazon concerning this issue. But with Amazon, nothing seems to happen quickly.
If this is effecting you, we recommend you do the following:
Email your support representative. Inform your rep, that you rely on the throttle exclusion for:
CompetitorEye
KEY: AKIAIUJNLBUF35FI5O4Q
AWS account number 4530-3380-0649
And / Or you may set CompetitorEye up to use your own MWS keys in the "Access Identifiers" of here (signed in) instead of using CompetitorEye’s single key.
The following is for US:
To create your own access identifiers (keys) for use on CompetitorEye
1. Create your own Product Advertising API keys or “Manage your account” if you already have one on Amazon.
2. Sign in.
3. Request Identifier creation or “Manage your account” to review existing access identifiers.
4. Associate both access identifiers on CompetitorEye.
Upon save, it is recommended that your keys be tested. To test, simply proceed to inventory analysis. If inventory reports are found and listed, you do not have an issue. If none found or an error is given, please let us know.
